This exhibition brings together significant achievements in contemporary Taiwanese comic creation, showcasing the diverse talents of artists ranging from emerging creators to seasoned professionals. It allows readers to appreciate the rich energy of Taiwanese comics in terms of narrative depth, visual language, and cultural expression. Through the display of original works, the exhibition aims to guide faculty and students to understand that comics are not merely a form of entertainment, but also an important cultural vehicle reflecting society, the land, and the spirit of the times.
The 16th Golden Comic Awards, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, held its awards ceremony at the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, demonstrating the government's high regard for comics and cultural creation.
This year's "Golden Comic Award" was awarded to Wolf Seven's *Echoes Before Dawn*; the highly competitive "Newcomer Award," dubbed the "Group of Death," was won by Yao Dao's *Organ Puzzle*, symbolizing the explosive creative power of a new generation of Taiwanese comic artists. In addition, the "Special Contribution Award" was presented to veteran comic editor Huang Chien-ho, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the comic industry and the support of creators over many years.
Premier Cho Jung-tai stated at the ceremony that cultural and comic creation requires the joint support of the government and society to achieve global recognition as a form of cultural soft power. He also encouraged creators to draw upon their real-world experiences related to the land, people, disaster relief, and the spirit of sports, unleashing their boundless imagination to shape a new cultural system belonging to this generation in Taiwan.
This exhibition is precisely such a practice of dialogue with the times. The National Formosa University Library sincerely invites faculty and students to visit and experience the intellectual depth and cultural warmth inherent in comics through reading and viewing.
